Mastering the Art of Difficult Conversations

Attendees will develop skills to stop avoiding difficult conversations and tackle them head on to create meaningful change in your organization. 
We’ll talk about the elements of difficult conversations and why we struggle to communicate. We’ll discuss methods you can use to prepare yourself for having a difficult conversation to increase the likelihood of a positive outcome. We’ll also touch on difficult conversations in the workplace like how to have difficult conversations with your boss or people you manage and how to receive a difficult message.

A companion course with Mastering the Art of Difficult Conversations is entitled Defuse the Situation: Using Conversation to Build Empathy and Trust with the Public. This training focuses more on conversing with the public and library patrons and pairs well with content taught in Mastering the Art of Difficult Conversations.

Rooting Out Dysfunction
& Creating Successful Teams

Learn to identify the pitfalls of dysfunctional teams and how to avoid those to create a communicative, motivated team. This training will touch on pitfalls that many teams fall prey to and how to avoid those as team leaders and team members. No matter the role you play in your library’s team, we have information that any member of the team can implement. You will learn methods and activities you can immediately put into practice to improve communication and increase trust between team members.

Leading with Awareness: Building an Effective Team Culture

This training focuses on ways that leaders of teams can use value-driven strategies to build a culture of trust and gratitude with their teams. We’ll cover practical tips that any leader can implement to improve their team’s effectiveness and start their journey to becoming a more value-driven organization. Attendees will receive a reflection workbook that can be completed individually or as a team to help the discussion of team improvement.
